Xylitol is a HEALTHY sugar that has long-term effects on your mouth, oral health, entire body, and family. Xylitol is not super sugar but very healthy, beneficial, and safe. It does have short-term effects, and its long-term benefits are significant and often INVISIBLE to the user.
Xylitol is digested in your stomach, and 90% of your sugars are digested in the mouth. Bacteria in the mouth eat the sugar molecules and change the sugar to acid. The acid softens the tooth enamel, which eventually causes cavities to form. When Xylitol is digested in the stomach, the bacteria starve because of a lack of sugar. The result is that by using DR BRANAMS toothpaste and gel, tooth decay causes bacteria to drop by 72%. Xylitol meets your sugar cravings but DECREASES your risk of getting cavities and gum disease. Another significant feature you will not hear from other products is that you should leave Dr. Branam Xylitol toothpaste and gel in your mouth after brushing your teeth. DO NOT SPIT OR RINSE OUT your mouth; allow the formula to continue working long after you are finished. XYLITOL is one of the few"sugars that diabetic people can use SAFELY. Your body needs some sugar, but it should be a HEALTHY SUGAR. You can purchase Xylitol as a cooking ingredient and substitute it for the regular unhealthy sugar you cook with. I recommend that you buy sugar-free beverages and sweeten them with XYLITOL. There is more information about Xylitol on the internet, which is beneficial for reducing the use of it. You can be confident in the DR BRANAMS XYLITOL TOOTHPASTE AND GEL PRODUCTS because they have been clinically tested on live patients and proven safe and effective. If you are parents of a child or children 5 years of age or younger, you NEED to ask all or most of the following questions when you call to make your first dental appointment. These questions may vary if your child has special needs or autism. 1. Do you routinely see child under the age of 18 months? 2. At what age do you recommend the first dental exam for a child? 3. Does your office do fillings for children 5 years of age and younger? 4. At what age do you take x-rays for the first time? 5. Does your office treat special needs and autism patients? 6. Are you familiar with XYLITOL to prevent tooth decay? 7. Do you ever use Silver Diamine Fluoride to prevent tooth decay? 8. Do you have "laughing gas" for patients who are nervous about having fillings done? These are examples of good general questions to give you an idea of the abilities and knowledge of the dentist. You can also ask other questions depending upon your specific concerns. I am giving you this information, because 90% of all general dentists in America do not treat or trained to treat children 6 years of age and younger. They will be not tell you this, but they will refer your child to a pediatric dentist if treatment is needed. The best advice is take you children on their 1st birthday to a pediatric dentist and remain as a long term patient. This is another TRUTH ABOUT DENTISTRY. Your trustworthy dental advisor, Dr. Steve Branam The majority of people do not understand the focus of a dentist and what they are trying to do. Dentists are trained to diagnose and treat dental and oral DISEASE. They are not trained and educated to minimize your need for dental treatment or decrease your oral DISEASE. I realized this TRUTH many years ago, because that is the training that I received in dental school. When a dentist does provide a filling, cleaning, or removal of an infected tooth, the disease is treated and you feel better. This is good and what you expect to happen. This is a short term solution to your immediate disease, but it does not improve your long term oral health. Your dentist should have a long-term home care plan other than brushing, flossing, and using a mainstream fluoride toothpaste and mouth rinse.
Your dentist is probably a good person with good intentions. Many of my patients were previously treated by a mainstream dentist using old school mainstream recommendations and products. These patients are still experiencing a significant number of cavities and gum disease. They are frustrated and tired of continuing to pay for extensive and expensive dental treatment in the dental office. I understand, because I practiced this way for many years. My goal was to decrease the need for extensive dental treatment. After years of observing, interviewing, a evaluating my patients, I found is solution to significantly decrease their frustration and improve their oral health. THE SOLUTION IS THE DAILY USE OF XYLITOL AT HOME. You are primarily responsible for your oral and general health, but must have the CORRECT information and products to do it. Most dentists have not taken the time or energy to find a better preventive way to help their patients to avoid complicated dental treatment. You see your dentist twice a year. Hopefully, you brush and floss DAILY at home. Bottom line is.......What you do daily at home is much more important than what your dentist does twice a year in the dental office.
